Up 24.4% over 24 hours on 5.4× baseline volume — no first-party event in the window lines up on both timing and scope.

Nothing in the window before the move began lines up on both timing and scope — not a first-party filing, not a press report. We would rather leave this blank than supply a reason that merely sounds plausible.

Four companies filed on the same evening and were sold off together the next day — but what puts Guidewire, lululemon, UiPath and Asana in one story is not a shared headline, it is a shared filing hour. Guidewire -20% in a session, and its 8-K carries more than the Item 2.02 results: an Item 5.02 notice that its chief accounting officer is retiring sits in the same document. UiPath's goes further still — that one filing also replaces the CFO.

MechanismStart with what this story is not: it is not one piece of news repricing four tickers. It is four unrelated quarterly reports landing on the same evening. We put them side by side because the filing hour and the next day's direction put them side by side, not because they share a cause. Guidewire's 8-K is the catalyst here. Its Item 2.02 says the company issued results for the fiscal quarter and year ended July 31 on September 3; the same document also carries an Item 5.02 recording the retirement of its chief accounting officer — and that second item is the one our classifier read, which is why the GWRE row is tagged Item 5.02 rather than earnings. That is not an error, it is a reminder: one 8-K can be several things at once. UiPath's filing is the extreme version of the same pattern. Item 2.02 covers fiscal second quarter 2027 results, but the same document also replaces the chief financial officer, adds a director, and discloses a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan for the founder and chief executive. The amounts, the share counts and the names all sit in the filing text, while the link on this card stops at the 8-K cover page — so this paragraph names the event types and prints no figure at all. If you cannot click through to a number from this card, we do not print it. For Asana the card holds its 10-Q, and the plainest explanation of the day comes from the wire: after a second-quarter beat, it was the third-quarter outlook that took the stock down 10.9%. The community write-up posted for Guidewire that same night says the same thing in fewer words — another beat-but-punished night. lululemon is the one member of the four whose own document is not on this card: its September 3 8-K and 10-Q sit on its own row and never enter this story's evidence list, which is why its catalyst grade stops at unattributed. We have not pulled it out of the story — it did report the same night and fall the same day — but we will not let the other three filings vouch for it. All four sets of news landed after the close and before the bell, the moves start on the opening bell itself, the lag cannot be measured, and we will not invent one.

Belite Bio +13% in a session, and what moved it is a broker note: Canaccord Genuity initiated coverage at Buy with a $303 price target. Every one of the five sources on this card is press coverage — the company itself filed nothing in this window.

MechanismThe evidence chain on this row is broken, and the break is worth naming. The day before, coverage reported that the FDA had granted priority review to tinlarebant in Stargardt disease. Before the bell, Canaccord Genuity initiated at Buy with a $303 target. Intraday, another broker said the revenue estimates for tinlarebant have multiple sources of upside. Before the close, the wire tied the day's gain directly to that initiation. Four threads pointing at one thing — it reads like a complete story. Laid out, though, not one of the five sources came from the company. Belite Bio filed nothing with the SEC inside this event window, so the catalyst grade on this row stops at unattributed rather than primary. What the page is telling you is that the press said this at this hour, not that the company disclosed this at this hour, and those two sentences should not be merged. Concretely, the cost is this: the formal wording of the priority review, the assumptions behind that $303 target, and which sources of upside the second note actually means are all things we had no first-party document to check that day. So this paragraph repeats what each report says and does not finish their sentences for them. The news landed premarket, the move starts on the opening bell, and the lag cannot be measured.

Nothing in the window before the move began lines up on both timing and scope — not a first-party filing, not a press report. We would rather leave this blank than supply a reason that merely sounds plausible.

Press coverage only — no first-party filing came back. Confidence is therefore capped at medium: we know what happened, just not from the party it happened to.

On a day the market closed lower on a strong jobs report, SanDisk went the other way, +12% — and not one of the six sources on this card comes from SanDisk itself. Five of them put it in the same headline as Micron.

MechanismThis row is a textbook proxy trade: what the market bought is not a piece of SanDisk news, it is the memory cycle. Spread the six sources out and five of them carry Micron and SanDisk in the same headline — memory chip stocks leading a rally on strong AI demand, which of the two is the better buy, buy signals flashing alongside Nvidia in the futures session, and a list of the stocks that explain today's market. The sixth is the day's market wrap: a strong jobs report, indices edging lower, lululemon plummeting. In other words, every word available to explain this move is about a sector or about a trading day. Not one of them is about something this company did. SanDisk filed nothing with the SEC inside this event window, so the catalyst grade on this row stops at unattributed. That is not us giving up: for an attribution to hold, something belonging to this company has to happen at a checkable hour. Today nothing did. We know where the money went; we do not know which document pushed it there — and the difference between those two statements is the reason this page exists. It gapped at the open too, so the lag cannot be measured.

Nothing in the window before the move began lines up on both timing and scope — not a first-party filing, not a press report. We would rather leave this blank than supply a reason that merely sounds plausible.

Methodology

Evidence tier

Change
For crypto this is the exchange's rolling 24-hour figure (last price over the price 24 hours ago). For US equities it is the session change, previous close to last: US markets are shut about 17.5 hours a day, so a literal 24-hour window would fold two sessions into one number.
Volume vs baseline
Volume of the breakout bar divided by the median of the prior 20 bars. The baseline is a median, not a mean, so the spike cannot inflate its own denominator.
Sigma move
This move measured in standard deviations of the instrument's own 30-day realised volatility. The larger the number, the less it looks like ordinary noise.
Rank in past 100 days
Where this move ranks among the past 100 complete trading days. Rank 1 means the biggest in a hundred sessions.
Lag
Time between the catalyst event and the start of the move. If the event lands after the move began, the entry is marked unattributed.
Gap at the open
The news broke before the bell, so the repricing was finished by the time trading opened. This row's move starts at the opening bell itself, which means there is no lag to measure — and we do not print one.
Measured from
Price, volume and range for this row are measured here.
Leads
The events below pass the scope test but not the timing one — listed as leads, not as attributions.
