24-Hour Movers (2026-09-03)

A full-market scan narrowed to the ten biggest moves. Every attribution carries its evidence tier on the badge — first-party filing, press coverage, or an honest blank. Numbers only ever come from first-party sources.

Nothing in the window before the move began lines up on both timing and scope — not a first-party filing, not a press report. We would rather leave this blank than supply a reason that merely sounds plausible.

Two China-linked oncology names each closed 17% higher in the same session, and the documents behind them have nothing to do with each other. Summit's 8-K relays Phase III HARMONi-2 results from its partner Akeso — a single-region Chinese study in which overall survival is a secondary endpoint. HUTCHMED's 6-K covers a licensing agreement with GSK for a KRAS-EGFR antibody-drug conjugate. The wire headline of the day already reads: Summit says it is beating Merck with its cancer drug.

MechanismStart with what this story is not: it is not one piece of news repricing two tickers. It is two unrelated first-party documents landing on the same session. We put them side by side because the tape put them side by side, not because they share a cause. On the Summit side: on September 2 the company issued a press release relaying Phase III HARMONi-2 from its partner Akeso — ivonescimab monotherapy against pembrolizumab monotherapy in locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with positive PD-L1 expression, with a preplanned analysis showing a statistically significant improvement in overall survival. The filing text itself volunteers three things that change how that reads: overall survival is a secondary endpoint in this study; the trial is a single-region, multi-center study conducted in China; and Akeso is the sponsor, with all relevant data exclusively generated, managed and analyzed by Akeso, the results due at an upcoming medical conference. Hazard ratio, absolute benefit, enrolment size — the filing gives none of them, so we print none of them. If you cannot click through to a figure from this card, we do not print it. HUTCHMED is a different kind of event altogether: a transaction, not a readout. Its 6-K carries an announcement of a licensing agreement with GSK for a KRAS-EGFR antibody-drug conjugate cancer therapy. Upfront payment, milestones and the revenue split all sit in that exhibit, while the link on this card stops at the 6-K cover page. Two wires that day put the ceiling of the deal at US$1.3 billion — that is their reading, not the filing text. The clocks are separate too: the SMMT filing reached EDGAR at 09:21 UTC and the move started at 14:30, a gap of 5.1 hours; HCM started an hour later, at 15:30.

Snowflake's numbers were out after the close on September 2 and the boards were shouting 22% that night. Put the day back in cross-section, though, and the top comment on r/StockMarket (57 upvotes) is three lines long: “CRM good results +22% SNOW good results +22% AVGO insane results -1%” — good results get the same size of move, and the outlier is the one that did not rise. SNOW closed the following session +17%.

MechanismThe first-party document was in hand the same day, and it says nothing: the September 2 8-K is a results filing whose text only records that the company issued a press release announcing results for the fiscal quarter ended in July. Every figure sits in the exhibit; the filing body gives none. That leaves exactly two quantities on this card a reader can click through to: the 22% in the hot-post title, and the +17% we measured ourselves. The more interesting line is why the attribution column reads unattributed. The 8-K landed after the close on September 2, while this move started at 15:30 UTC — a full overnight in between. Our rule is that timing and scope both have to line up before we call something a catalyst; the fact that everyone knows it was earnings is not a reason for us to print a causal claim. We would rather leave it blank than credit a filing whose clock does not match. As for what the market was buying, the hot-post title carries the community's own reading: healthy results plus momentum in AI coding demand. We relay that as the community's reading, not as a first-party conclusion — the numbers behind it are in the press release, not on this card.

Nothing in the window before the move began lines up on both timing and scope — not a first-party filing, not a press report. We would rather leave this blank than supply a reason that merely sounds plausible.

Benzinga report. CRCL gapped at the bell and rose 16.5% over 24 hours on 9.0× baseline volume — the news broke pre-market, so the lag cannot be measured.

Methodology

Evidence tier

Change
For crypto this is the exchange's rolling 24-hour figure (last price over the price 24 hours ago). For US equities it is the session change, previous close to last: US markets are shut about 17.5 hours a day, so a literal 24-hour window would fold two sessions into one number.
Volume vs baseline
Volume of the breakout bar divided by the median of the prior 20 bars. The baseline is a median, not a mean, so the spike cannot inflate its own denominator.
Sigma move
This move measured in standard deviations of the instrument's own 30-day realised volatility. The larger the number, the less it looks like ordinary noise.
Rank in past 100 days
Where this move ranks among the past 100 complete trading days. Rank 1 means the biggest in a hundred sessions.
Lag
Time between the catalyst event and the start of the move. If the event lands after the move began, the entry is marked unattributed.
Gap at the open
The news broke before the bell, so the repricing was finished by the time trading opened. This row's move starts at the opening bell itself, which means there is no lag to measure — and we do not print one.
Measured from
Price, volume and range for this row are measured here.
Leads
The events below pass the scope test but not the timing one — listed as leads, not as attributions.
